What is Nanny.nu?
Nanny.nu is a personal nanny matching service that connects families across Sweden with carefully selected childcare professionals. Every candidate undergoes a criminal background check and is certified in infant CPR. A dedicated nanny specialist guides the family from intake to an in-person meeting with the matched nanny — with no commitment until the family is ready.
Childcare in Sweden — how it works
Sweden's childcare system is generous, but navigating it as a newcomer takes time. Here's a quick guide to the three main options.
Dagis (Förskola)
Municipal preschool for children aged 1–5. Heavily subsidised (max ~1,500 SEK/month), but waitlists run months long — especially in Stockholm and Gothenburg. Apply the moment you arrive.
Fritids
After-school care for ages 6–12, typically 06:00–08:00 and 14:00–18:00. Most schools offer it, but hours are fixed. If your schedule doesn't align, you'll need supplementary care.
Nanny / Barnvakt
A private nanny fills the gaps — mornings, evenings, weekends, school holidays, or full-time while you wait for a dagis spot. This is where we come in.
